Lessons built around how you move.
90 minutes, one on one, paced to your body — not a stopwatch.
What an actual lesson looks like.
This isn’t a surf camp. It’s coaching, tailored to you.
Jo is a certified personal trainer and certified yoga instructor as well as a surf coach, so every lesson pulls from all three: alignment and balance work borrowed from her yoga training, a pace and structure borrowed from personal training, and decades of reading water borrowed from her own fifty-plus years on a board. It’s not a script — it’s built around what your body needs that day.
Simple, honest pricing.
No hidden tiers, no add-ons you didn’t ask for.
The questions everyone’s too polite to ask.
I have bad knees, or a bad shoulder. Can I still do this?
That’s exactly why every lesson starts with a body-mechanics check-in, not a stopwatch. Jo works around what you’ve got, not against it.
I’ve never done yoga, worked out, or surfed. Am I too far behind?
No. Most of Jo’s adult students are starting from exactly zero. That’s the normal starting point, not the exception.
What if I need more time on one thing before moving on?
Take it. Jo paces every lesson to you — there’s no set curriculum you have to keep up with.
What should I bring?
A swimsuit, a towel, sunscreen, and water. Jo provides the board and any other gear.
What people say after one session.
“She’s patient, funny, and I like her approach and method.”
“The board she chose and the tips she gave made my surfing successful instead of frustrating.”
“I learned more about reading waves, positioning, and timing in one day than in many sessions before.”
Ready for your first session?
Private lessons run March through October, right off the south end of Wrightsville Beach.
